Milano Design Week 2027 – Italy is the largest and most influential design festival in the world, bringing together the global furniture industry, contemporary design culture and citywide creative experimentation. Expect a dual experience that combines the trade power of Salone del Mobile.Milano at Rho Fiera with the open, free and highly creative atmosphere of Fuorisalone spread across ten official design districts and over 1,000 independent events.

The week attracts more than 500,000 visitors including buyers, architects, interior designers, media, students and the general public. The atmosphere is intense, crowded and inspirational, with exhibitions ranging from luxury furniture launches to experimental installations by young designers, fashion brands presenting object collections and technology companies exploring design for everyday life. In the city, events are mostly free admission, while the main furniture fair requires a paid ticket. Evening openings, cocktail presentations and night installations transform Milan into a 24-hour design capital.

For professionals, the week offers unparalleled business opportunities, with over 2,300 exhibitors from more than 40 nations presenting new collections. For visitors, it offers the chance to see world premieres, meet designers and experience Milan’s historic palazzos, industrial spaces and showrooms transformed by design. The 65th edition introduces a major novelty, Salone Contract, with a masterplan by Rem Koolhaas and David Gianotten of OMA, focused on large-scale contract projects.

Preguntas frecuentes

Do I need tickets for Milano Design Week?

Access to most Fuorisalone events across the city is free of charge, although some popular installations require free online registration due to capacity limits. Admission to Salone del Mobile at Rho Fiera Milano is ticketed and must be purchased in advance through the official Salone website. It is advisable to check each venue’s website for specific entry requirements.

How many days do I need to visit Milano Design Week?

Even without visiting the Rho fairground, you need at least three days to get a general idea of Fuorisalone content across the ten districts. The fair itself requires a full day, while city districts each need half a day to explore thoroughly. Many visitors stay four to five days to cover both trade and city events without rushing.

Where should I stay during Milano Design Week?

Staying in central Milan is most convenient due to evening events and late openings, but accommodation becomes very expensive and must be booked well in advance. More affordable alternatives include staying outside Milan in cities connected by regional trains such as Bergamo, Pavia or Como, where trains are affordable and connections are efficient.

How do I get around during Milano Design Week?

Milan has an efficient public transport network of metro, buses and trams operating from early morning to midnight, and you can pay with contactless cards or smartphones. Taxis are difficult to find during the week with long queues, so public transport and walking between nearby districts is recommended. Design districts provide their own maps and signage to guide you.

Can anyone exhibit at Milano Design Week?

Anyone including companies, individual designers and institutions can exhibit at Fuorisalone by renting a location and organizing communication, but exhibiting independently requires substantial investment and a clear communication strategy. Alternatively, designers can rent space in curated group exhibitions such as Superdesign Show, Isola Design Festival or Capsule Plaza, which have art directors selecting projects for relevance and quality.
