Run in the Chianti Classico hills: Chianti Classico Marathon is not a city marathon on asphalt, it is a trail-running and recreational walking event organized by A.S.D. Podistica Valdipesa under UISP patronage of Municipalities of San Casciano in Val di Pesa, Greve in Chianti and Barberino Tavarnelle. Now in its 9th edition, it has become one of the most loved and scenic running experiences in Tuscany, with start and finish in Mercatale in Val di Pesa, the heart of the event and true meeting point for athletes, families and wine lovers.

Three competitive distances plus inclusive walks: The event features Ultra Trail 47 km with positive elevation gain of 1700 meters worth 2 ITRA points and UTMB Index, Trail 22 km with positive elevation gain of 650 meters worth 1 ITRA point, Short Trail 10 km evening competitive race with 250 meters gain, Leisure Walk and Nordic Walking 10 km non-competitive, Children’s Mini Trail for ages 6 to 13 with free on-site registration, and A Ruota Libera accompanied 4 km walk on dedicated route for wheelchair users with free registration by email. A journey through vineyards, flavors and breathtaking landscapes: Routes wind through vineyards, hills, ancient castles, white roads and charming medieval villages in the heart of Chianti Classico. You will pass inside most prestigious estates, through woods, olive groves and cypress avenues. The finisher medal for competitive races is a work of art handcrafted in Impruneta terracotta by local artisan Alberto Bellosi, symbolizing union between sport and Tuscan craftsmanship.
