Lake Maggiore Marathon is considered one of most panoramic run path in Italy, as matter of fact it runs on scenic route along Lake Maggiore western shore. With lake and landscape views running length of course, Lago Maggiore Marathon pairs professional organisation with one of Northern Italy’s most photogenic settings. You will run between silvery reflections of lake and majestic mountains watching over in distance.

Expect 15th edition starting in Arona, little waterside gem built in antiquity among cliffs of Vergante massif, today true gateway to Lake Maggiore. You then pass through Meina, then Lesa, Belgirate, Stresa, and Baveno, before arriving in Verbania. Second half takes in world renowned Borromean Gulf from Stresa to Verbania with unforgettable view of islands recently chosen by fashion icon Louis Vuitton to present collection. History includes lake often visited by well-known writers such as Ernest Hemingway, actors and fashion icons.

The heart of event is LMM Village on lakefront of Arona, point of reference for over 2000 runners who participate to race. After first edition in 2008 race quickly became preferred destination for many foreign runners who also come to compete in SPORTWAY Lake Maggiore Marathon later in year. When half marathon date moved to April it was able to showcase Lake Maggiore in full season with major attractions open to public such as Borromeo Islands, Villa Taranto Botanical Gardens and many beautiful small towns along route. Course profile flat, road surface, lakeside, nature, river, scenic, AIMS certified, point to point, 1000 to 4999 participants, considered fast and ideal for good performances. Course includes some part up downhill but holds Course Records recognized internationally with many runners achieving PB on selected distance. In 2018 one of most extraordinary chapters of Italian running was written here: 59’06”, second best all time time for half marathon in Italy.

Finish Addresses: Marathon 42 km and 33 km and 10 km finish in Verbania Pallanza. Half Marathon classic will start from glamorous Stresa, passing through Feriolo then Fondotoce where 10K buddies have already started before finishing like everyone else in Verbania Pallanza. Alternative finish Baveno Stresa for half marathon in some editions, but main finish Verbania Pallanza.

Course Details: Flat, road surface, lakeside, nature, scenic, AIMS certified, point to point. Classic 10K will start at Fondotoce and head directly to finish in Verbania Pallanza. Half marathon start Stresa Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola to Pallanza Verbania. Marathon Arona to Verbania Pallanza via Meina Lesa Belgirate Stresa Baveno. Course runs along lake shores on terrain mostly flat thank geology with few undulations to remind thighs they’re working. Passing through Feriolo and Verbania Fondotoce.

Distance Options: 42 km individual competitive and not-competitive Marathon, 33 km individual competitive and not-competitive, Half Marathon 21 km, 10 km.

Sunday Morning: Marathon 42 km start in Arona early morning, followed by 33 km and Half Marathon start in Arona or Stresa. 10K start at Fondotoce heading directly to finish in Verbania Pallanza. All races along scenic route western shore, silvery reflections of lake and majestic mountains.

Sunday Midday: Finish festival in Verbania Pallanza, with finisher medals, massages, refreshments, awards. Second half takes in Borromean Gulf from Stresa to Verbania with unforgettable view of islands.
