RomaOstia Half Marathon, in Italian Roma-Ostia Mezza Maratona, is Italy’s most popular half marathon and one of the most historic road running events in the country. First organized in the mid nineteen seventies, the race has reached its fifty first and fifty second editions and continues to attract over thirteen thousand runners at the starting line, from elite world-class athletes to recreational runners of all abilities. It is organized by Gruppo Sportivo Bancari Romani under the aegis of World Athletics and FIDAL, with the patronage of Roma Capitale and Regione Lazio, and is inserted in the international World Athletics calendar and national FIDAL calendar.
The event is famous for its very fast route that connects the iconic EUR district of Rome to the coast. Over a distance of twenty one point zero nine seven five kilometres, it is a point-to-point course that has always reflected the technical characteristics of the half marathon, combining wide, flowing boulevards with a long, straight stretch toward the sea. Known for its relatively flat and fast profile, RomaOstia has traditionally produced strong elite performances while offering recreational runners a scenic experience from Rome directly to the sea.
Expect a large-scale urban road race with professional organization, chip timing with partial splits, wave starts divided into grids according to declared times, and a festive atmosphere that ends with the smell of the sea and a well-deserved medal. The event also serves as a celebration of Rome running culture, with a finish line at Piazzale Cristoforo Colombo, the iconic Rotonda in Ostia, where you can enjoy a final walk along the Lungomare, photo panels, and a final refreshment bag containing the coveted wind jacket.
