Danae Festival 2027 – Milan, Italy is an international multidisciplinary project dedicated to experimentation that supports and promotes hybrid languages of the scene, using theatrical and non-theatrical spaces, as well as urban spaces in the city of Milan. Born in Milan in 1999, curated with passion by Teatro delle Moire, interested in making visible new artistic experiences of the contemporary scene, the festival is unscrupulous and transversal, proposing artists who frequent and cross different languages from theater to dance, from performing art to music, from video art to cinema and who cannot be cataloged according to traditional categories.

It was 1999 when Teatro delle Moire launched its show Camille Claudel, the sculptor, a play concerning impossibility of being normal. The dramatic plot was first one opening Danae. Today, festival continues with nomadic vocation which pushes it to continuous search for different spaces, not only theatrical but above all for unconventional and urban places to host site-specific projects. Dance and performances are languages on which proposals are mainly based.

Expect radical dance, contemporary performance, video art, sound installations and experimental theatre spread across Milan. Festival cuts milestones such as 25-year anniversary celebrated recently, turning gaze back to when it all began while looking forward to new hybrid forms. Project by Teatro delle Moire, founded by Alessandra De Santis and Attilio Nicoli Cristiani, engaged for years in profound and stimulating research, with support of Pro Helvetia and Istituto Svizzero for Swiss collaborations.

The festival proposes international taste and new names, with body at centre, body in relation with space and ground, body as central element of performance. Expect tense instep dragging movements, contemporary dance unifying street dance on electronic sounds, improvisation related to force, flexibility and equilibrium and interdisciplinary projects that export outdoor ways, forms, attitudes and habits normally applied to traditional theatrical space.

Curatorial Approach: Festival curated with passion by Teatro delle Moire interested in making visible new artistic experiences of contemporary scene.
