MITO per la Città 2026 brings free live classical music into everyday places across Turin, extending the musical atmosphere of MITO SettembreMusica beyond traditional concert halls. The 2026 edition presents 20 days of programming and more than 100 opportunities to encounter live classical music across the city.
The programme combines concerts open to the public with shorter itinerant musical moments reserved for schools, nurseries, healthcare facilities, care homes and other community organisations. The project is designed to bring music directly into neighbourhoods and places connected with everyday life, care and education.
The public programme includes 15 free concerts and performances in neighbourhood venues, churches, museums, academies and other unusual concert spaces. A special focus of the 2026 edition is “Musica al femminile,” marking the 80th anniversary of women’s voting rights in Italy through programmes centred on women composers and performers.

Young musicians from the Conservatorio di Torino, Obiettivo Orchestra of Filarmonica TRT and the Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale di Saluzzo are central to the programme, alongside established musical organisations and ensembles from Turin and Piedmont.
Période des festivals : 8–30 September 2026
The public concert programme runs from 8 September through 25 September, while the wider MITO per la Città programme also includes itinerant and reserved musical activities continuing through the end of the announced festival period.
All public concerts are free, although certain venues require advance reservation or admission arrangements.
MITO per la Città does not have one central festival site. Instead, concerts take place throughout Turin in locations selected to connect music with different parts of the city.
Among the 2026 venues are:
The festival also participates in the Via Roma celebrations with additional short performances and concerts in central cultural venues.
The 2026 programme features a wide range of young ensembles, chamber groups, orchestral formations and established local musical organisations.
Featured formations and performers include:
These artists and ensembles represent the younger generation of musicians connected with Turin’s educational institutions as well as established musical organisations from the region.
MITO per la Città is different from a conventional headline-driven music festival. Its emphasis is on ensembles, chamber music, young musicians and carefully designed programmes rather than internationally marketed headliners.
Several 2026 performers stand out within the public programme.
Trio Jasmine opens the “Musica al femminile” series with “Tra due continenti,” connecting European repertoire with Chinese and Japanese musical traditions and works by Clara Schumann, Nadia Boulanger and Lucia Contini Anselmi.
Trio De Sono presents “Il suono dell’emancipazione,” featuring works by Amy Beach, Nadia Boulanger and Clara Schumann.
Quartetto Sirmen di Obiettivo Orchestra performs “Semplicemente compositrici,” with works by Maddalena Laura Lombardini Sirmen, Fanny Mendelssohn and Giulia Recli.
Other notable programmes include Duo Cometto Troilo at the Basilica di Superga, Trio 2 giugno ’46 at the Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano and Melting Pot Quartet at Gallerie d’Italia.
MITO per la Città uses Turin itself as its performance environment rather than operating with conventional festival stages.
Historic and cultural venues
Museums, palaces, academies and archives become temporary concert spaces, including Palazzo Madama, Museo Egizio, Gallerie d’Italia and the Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano.
Religious venues
Churches and basilicas provide intimate acoustic settings, including the Basilica di Superga, Basilica Santa Maria Ausiliatrice, Chiesa di San Pio X and other parish churches.
Neighbourhood venues
Community spaces and small halls bring concerts closer to residents outside the historic centre, including Auditorium Operti, Officine CAOS and Teatro Sant’Anna.
Central city spaces
The Via Roma programme adds short performances and musical events in central Turin, connecting the festival with the city’s public cultural life.
Because the festival uses numerous independent venues, the programme is best understood as a venue-by-venue concert schedule rather than a multi-stage timetable.
Early festival programme
The opening public concert features the Ensemble vocale e strumentale dell’Accademia del Santo Spirito at Le Roi Music Hall. Trio Jasmine follows at the Educatorio della Provvidenza, while Quartetto InCamTo performs at Chiesa di San Pio X.
Mid-festival programme
The programme continues with Trio 2 giugno ’46 at the Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano, Trio De Sono at Auditorium Operti, Accademia dei Solinghi at Teatro Sant’Anna, Academia Montis Regalis at the Accademia delle Scienze and Quartetto Sirmen at Palazzo Madama.
Later programme
The second half includes Duo Cometto Troilo at Basilica di Superga, Piccoli Cantori di Torino at Basilica Santa Maria Ausiliatrice, Accademia Stefano Tempia and CFM Baroque Ensemble at Officine CAOS, Duo An Die Musik at Santa Pelagia, Orchestra Filarmonica del Liceo Cavour at Chiesa di San Giovanni Maria Vianney, I Musici di Santa Pelagia at the Chiesa della Natività di Maria Vergine and Melting Pot Quartet at Gallerie d’Italia.
The 2026 public programme includes afternoon and evening concerts, with start times generally ranging from late afternoon to night.
Exemples :
The Via Roma programme includes additional evening performances, with some concerts continuing into the night.
All MITO per la Città concerts and musical moments are free of charge. The official venue information explicitly describes the programme as rigorously free.
Depending on the venue, access can work in different ways:
For example, “Tra due continenti” at Educatorio della Provvidenza is free but requires advance reservation through Vivaticket, while “Nuances” at Basilica di Superga is free until capacity is reached. “Semplicemente compositrici” is free with the museum ticket and requires reservation.
MITO per la Città does not operate with standard VIP tickets, premium passes or hospitality packages.
The project is intentionally based on free public access and community participation. Visitors attend individual concerts according to the admission conditions of the venue rather than purchasing a festival-wide premium package.
Some venues have their own access requirements, such as a museum admission ticket or advance reservation, but these are venue conditions rather than VIP festival packages.
MITO per la Città concerts are free, but visitors must respect the capacity and admission conditions of each location.
Parmi les considérations importantes figurent :
The official programme specifies the access requirements on individual event pages, so visitors should check the relevant concert listing before attending.
Since MITO per la Città takes place throughout Turin, the best route depends on the individual concert venue.
For central venues such as Palazzo Madama, Museo Egizio, Gallerie d’Italia and the Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano, visitors can generally reach the locations easily from Turin’s central districts.
For neighbourhood venues, Turin’s public transport network provides connections from the city centre and railway stations.
The official festival specifically recommends using the GTT public transport network or the GTT To Move app when travelling to festival venues.
Visitors attending Basilica di Superga should allow additional travel time because the venue is located on the Turin hill overlooking the city.
Public transport is the most practical way to move between the many MITO per la Città venues.
Turin’s GTT network provides buses, trams and metro services connecting the centre with the city’s neighbourhoods. The festival recommends consulting GTT services or the To Move app for current journey information.
For central venues, parking can be more difficult because of Turin’s restricted traffic areas and limited street parking. Visitors travelling by car should consider parking outside the busiest central areas and continuing by public transport.
For concerts at neighbourhood venues, visitors should check the individual venue’s location and local parking situation before travelling.
Turin offers accommodation across the historic centre and surrounding neighbourhoods, making it possible to choose a base according to the venues being visited.
Centre historique : Convenient for events at Palazzo Madama, Museo Egizio, Gallerie d’Italia and other central locations.
Porta Nuova : A practical base for visitors arriving by train, with extensive hotels, restaurants and public transport connections.
Porta Susa : Useful for visitors travelling by rail and attending concerts in different parts of Turin.
San Salvario : A lively area close to Porta Nuova with restaurants, cafés and evening activity.
Crocetta: A quieter residential area with good connections to central Turin.
Lingotto : Suitable for visitors who prefer accommodation farther south and want good transport connections.
Because the festival is spread throughout Turin, staying close to a major railway or metro connection can make it easier to reach different venues during the programme.
MITO per la Città is integrated into Turin’s neighbourhoods rather than operating as a closed festival site with a dedicated food village.
Visitors can therefore combine concerts with Turin’s cafés, restaurants, bakeries and traditional food venues.
Central concerts provide easy access to restaurants around Piazza Castello, Via Roma, Piazza San Carlo and the surrounding historic centre. Neighbourhood events also provide opportunities to experience local cafés and restaurants away from the main tourist areas.
For a full day of concerts, visitors can plan meals between afternoon and evening performances, particularly when combining different venues.
Accessibility is an important part of the festival’s venue planning. The official MITO per la Città venue information states that all listed public concert venues are accessible.
Because the festival uses historic buildings, churches, museums, neighbourhood halls and other different types of spaces, the exact accessibility arrangements can vary between locations.
Visitors with specific mobility or assistance requirements should check the individual venue before attending, particularly for historic buildings and venues with limited seating.
Opening period: The first part of the programme introduces the 2026 season with chamber music, early music and the beginning of the “Musica al femminile” series.
Mid-September: This period provides several of the featured women-composer programmes, including performances at Auditorium Operti, Teatro Sant’Anna, Palazzo Madama and Basilica di Superga.
Via Roma programme: The special Via Roma celebration offers a concentrated opportunity to experience several free musical performances in central Turin on the same day, including events at the Archivio di Stato, Palazzo Madama, Gallerie d’Italia, Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano and Museo Egizio.
Final public concerts: The later programme includes baroque music, orchestral repertoire and the Gershwin and Ravel programme at Gallerie d’Italia.
Visitors who want the widest range of experiences can plan several days rather than focusing on a single date because the festival changes venue and musical format throughout its run.
The 2025 edition presented more than 100 free musical appointments across Turin, with performances extending from schools and hospitals to markets, parks, neighbourhoods, care facilities and cultural venues.
The programme placed particular emphasis on young musicians and local educational institutions, reinforcing the project’s aim of making music part of everyday community life rather than limiting concerts to conventional halls.
The 2025 public programme included formations such as Tetrabones, Fenomeno Callas, Uberto Duo, Duo Maleta, Bepi Quintet, Kosobate Quartet, Quartetto Zante, ClariVibes, Quintetto Veles and other ensembles performing across Turin.
The 2026 edition continues this approach while expanding the public concert programme and adding the “Musica al femminile” cycle as one of its major thematic strands.
MITO per la Città concerts are free rather than paid-ticket events. Where advance booking is required, the official event page identifies the appropriate reservation method.
Some events use Vivaticket reservations, while others operate on a first-come, first-served basis until the venue reaches capacity. Museum-based events can have separate museum admission requirements.

Visitors should check the individual event page before travelling because reservation requirements, venue capacity and admission conditions vary between concerts.
The festival aims to bring high-quality live music beyond traditional concert halls and directly into Turin's neighborhoods. It uses free performances to foster social cohesion, community engagement, and universal cultural access.
Organizers select unconventional spaces like historic courtyards, libraries, healthcare facilities, and public parks across various districts. This approach pairs specific musical repertoires with unique local architecture to engage diverse audiences.
All concerts, neighborhood events, and urban interventions featured in the program are completely free to attend. The initiative ensures that financial barriers never prevent anyone from enjoying world-class live performance.
Schedule details and general zone announcements are published on the official festival website and digital channels. Because some interventions are spontaneous, announcements highlight key areas and transit hubs where pop-ups frequently occur.
Venues are carefully chosen and audited to ensure physical accessibility for patrons with mobility needs and older adults. Volunteer staff are also stationed on-site at every location to provide assistance, directions, and comfortable seating support.
