For I Puritani, the 2026 cast includes Jessica Pratt and Irina Lungu as Elvira; Dmitry Korchak and Valerio Borgioni as Lord Arturo Talbo; Christian Federici and Janusz Nosek as Sir Riccardo Forth; Carlo Lepore and Dario Russo as Sir Giorgio; and Anna Pennisi and Sofia Janelidze as Enrichetta di Francia.

The production features the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro Massimo Bellini, with Fabrizio Maria Carminati conducting and Massimo Fiocchi Malaspina serving as chorus master. Renato Bonajuto is the director, with Arcangelo Mazza responsible for sets and video and Giovanna Adelaide Giorgianni for costumes.

The wider program also features the Orchestra Fiati Regionale Siciliana Fe.Ba.Si., with Alfio Zito and Salvatore Tralongo conducting for the Omaggio a Vincenzo Bellini program.

Stages & performance areas

There are no numbered festival stages. Instead, the event’s performance areas are individual theatres, historic venues, churches, outdoor spaces and cultural institutions.

Villa Bellini provides an outdoor setting for several events. Cortile Platamone hosts evening performances, while Teatro Sangiorgi is used for theatrical and musical productions.

Teatro Metropolitan is the principal opera venue for I Puritani. Other events take place at the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini, Basilica Cattedrale di Sant’Agata and Chiesa di Santa Teresa.

26 September is also significant because the program includes activities connected with Bianca e Gernando. A study meeting titled Intorno a “Bianca e Gernando” is scheduled at the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini on 26 September from 09:30 to 13:00.

Visitors interested in sacred music can also consider the closing period, which includes Un tal baccano in chiesa! Il sacro nel belcanto and other late-festival activities.

Previous year’s highlights

The previous edition was the fifth Bellini International Context, held in 2025. Its program ran from 13 to 28 September and included concerts, opera, theatre, dance, jazz, educational activities and cultural meetings.

One of the major productions of the 2025 edition was Il Pirata, another important Bellini opera. The program also included Bellini, Rossini, Donizetti: i Titani del primo Ottocento, CircusOperaShow, Bellini in Jazz & Classic in Swing, Bellindanza and Bellini-Paganini, un dialogo (im)possibile.

The 2025 program also featured a performance of Bellini – Composizioni da camera in jazz by Corelli Jazz Combo in Messina and various events exploring Bellini through different musical formats.

The 2026 edition continues this multidisciplinary approach while expanding the published festival geography to Catania, Messina, Palermo and Agrigento.
