Roccella Summer Festival returns to the Teatro al Castello in Roccella Jonica for another edition of live music in one of Calabria’s most striking open-air venues. The festival has established itself as a cornerstone of southern Italy’s summer music calendar, consistently attracting some of the biggest names in Italian music to the panoramic setting overlooking the Ionian Sea .

The 2027 edition is expected to continue the festival’s tradition of presenting a diverse lineup spanning pop, rap, rock, and cantautorato, performed in the intimate atmosphere of the restored Roman theatre. For the confirmed date of 21 August 2027, the festival will present Claudio Baglioni, one of the most celebrated figures in Italian popular music, in what promises to be a landmark evening for the festival .

The Teatro al Castello offers a unique concert experience with over three thousand seats arranged in the ancient theatre structure, blending archaeological heritage with contemporary performance. Attendees can expect the high production standards that have defined recent editions, including full band performances, orchestral collaborations, and immersive lighting design that utilises the natural rock formations surrounding the stage .

Roccella Summer Festival 2027 currently has one confirmed date: Saturday 21 August 2027. In previous years, the festival has spanned multiple dates throughout August, with the 2026 edition running from late July through late August and featuring over a dozen concerts . Further dates for the 2027 edition may be announced in the coming months as additional artists are confirmed.

Concerts at the festival typically begin at 21:30, allowing audiences to enjoy the performance under the stars with the Mediterranean evening as a backdrop . The event concludes late in the evening, with attendees advised to arrange return transport in advance given the location’s coastal setting.

The Teatro al Castello is located at Via Giordano Bruno 116, 89047 Roccella Ionica, Reggio Calabria, positioned at the foot of the town’s historic castle with commanding views over the Ionian coastline . The venue is an open-air Roman theatre that has been carefully restored and adapted for contemporary performances while preserving its ancient character. With a capacity exceeding three thousand seats, the theatre offers an intimate yet substantial setting for major touring artists .

Roccella Jonica itself is a coastal town in the Reggio Calabria province, situated along the SS106 Jonica road that connects the major centres of Calabria’s eastern coast. The town’s historic centre, with its castle and sea views, provides a picturesque context for the festival, and the venue is within walking distance of the town’s amenities and accommodation options .

The full lineup for Roccella Summer Festival 2027 is expected to be announced progressively in the months leading up to the event. The confirmed headliner for 21 August 2027 is Claudio Baglioni, the Roman singer-songwriter whose career spans over five decades and includes some of the most beloved songs in the Italian popular repertoire . Additional artists are anticipated to be announced, continuing the festival’s pattern of presenting a multigenerational lineup that appeals to diverse audiences.

For reference, the 2026 edition featured Modà with Bianca Atzei, Giorgia, Salmo, Luchè, Riccardo Cocciante, Mannarino, Negramaro, Arisa, and Pooh across multiple dates from late July to late August . The 2025 edition included Anna, Jimmy Sax with the Symphonic Dance Orchestra, Irama, Baustelle, Ghali, Sal Da Vinci, Fiorella Mannoia, Tony Boy, Alfa, Gianna Nannini, Francesco Renga, Fabri Fibra, and Francesco De Gregori .

Claudio Baglioni is the confirmed headliner for the 21 August 2027 date. The venue’s design, with seating arranged in a semicircular configuration facing the stage, ensures excellent sightlines and acoustics for all attendees. The stage is equipped with professional sound and lighting systems capable of supporting large-scale touring productions. The natural rock and castle structures surrounding the theatre create a distinctive visual environment that enhances the concert experience.

As a single-venue festival, Roccella Summer Festival does not operate multiple stages. Each evening features one primary performance, with occasional support acts or special guests. The 21 August 2027 evening will feature Claudio Baglioni as the sole headline performance.
